Busy Busy + Upcoming Races

Happy Wednesday!

I did not do an evening post last night as I was a bit too busy. Why? Two reasons – First, Max broke out in a rash due to either his MMR vaccine or the amoxicillin he was on last week. I had to make a quick call to the Doctor’s office to discuss the rash and make sure it wasn’t something like Chicken Pox. But nothing to fear, it is just a rash and it is slowly going way. Second – I was buying skis! Yay! I had a gift card to use up from Christmas, so we went over to the SportsChek to check out their skis. I am not a “hardcore” skier by any means, but wanted a pair of skis in the middle (intermediate). The kind I wanted was out of stock, so P is supposed to pick up a pair from the location closer to his work. We are due to go skiing at Tremblant next weekend, so hopefully they are ready by then!


This has not been a big week for running. Actually, it has not been a week at all for running. I’ve been a bit busy and if it takes me longer than 10 minutes to get out of work – there is little to no point going. However, Robots build season is finished next week, so hopefully some evening runs at the gym will start happening next week.

It is almost time for Race Season! I am not racing at Winterman this year – a bit too complicated with people coming over and parking is a pain. maybe next year!

Next Race up:

Running Room St. Patrick’s Day Race! – Saturday, March 16th.

Should be a good race! It is being run on Colonel By Drive, so it will be flat! I am running the 5K this time around. There will be a few of my friends running too, so that will be nice!

Mother’s Day Run – Saturday before Mother’s Day

My 3rd time running this race out of the Aviation Museum. This will probably be a Chariot race if Max still likes the chariot (he hasn’t been in it all winter…opps).

Ottawa Run Weekend – 10k

I plan on PBing this race – so once I am able to run on the Ottawa River paths, I will be going longer distances. Hurry up spring!!

I am thinking about doing a race in April – does anyone have any good ideas?

    Yay for new skis! Those look like downhill skis…I only nordic ski but downhill looks really fun (but scary).

      yup – downhill!! It isn’t too bad – but I just stick to the easy hills 🙂

    The Run for Reach is mid-April. If I recall correctly, there is a 5k, a10k and a half and it’s usually along the canal.

    I can’t ski… but I’ve been thinking about trying cross country skiing or snow shoe-ing (I don’t know how to spell that!).
    In the next few days I’m going to sit down and hammer out a racing schedule for the next few months.
    Poor Max! I hope he’s not itchy!

      Cross Country skiing has less of a learning curve and is a great cardio workout! Snowshoeing can be fun too!

    If you are looking for a late April race, there’s the Alive to Strive race – 5km and 10km.

    I just signed up for the St. Patrick’s Day race 5km! Wasn’t sure if I wanted to do the 10km or 5km, but figured I can always change if I’m in shape and in the mood for a 10km haha
