Normally I would be all “YAY IT IS WEDNESDAY” meaning the week was half over – but instead the week is finally beginning for me. I have been sick home since Monday and just returned to work today at about 75% better. I did not play dodgeball with the kiddies today as I think I would have been sick if I did. I had to miss track yesterday (and my track work-out), so I was extra annoyed at being sick last night. Along with job search season (let’s be real and call it “hope I’m the right number” season) and winter weather being sucky – there is times that I need a little pick-me-up.
So what are my favorite ways to give myself a little boost?
1) David’s Tea
(not my entire tea collection……)
If you know me – you are aware that I love David’s Tea. I have quite a collection in my tea cupboard, as well as a pile of tasters from my 24 Days of Tea advent calendar to still try. If you have ever been at my house, you would have been offered a tea from my “selection” and then be encouraged to consider David’s Tea for your tea purchases. I swear I do not work for them! In the evening I like to steep a nice mug of tea.
2) Going out for a run/working out
Pretty obvious answer, but I love a good run or workout. I would always say run first, but these days with the weather and it being robot-build season, I am lucky if I make it out twice a week for a run. So a workout has to do on some days. Tonight I might do a circuit in the basement and tomorrow I am participating in ‘basketball club’ after school – apparently people are all excited that I will be joining. Sorry to say, it is all hype – I can’t shoot for the life of me.
3) Making something special for dinner
Pick something up from the store that you would like to make and get cooking! My no-fail dinner solutions include chili with avocado, sweet potato fries, cupcakes, roast chicken, chicken wings and anything pasta are all on my list. Cupcakes for dinner? Yeah, sometimes….
4) Watching multiple episodes of a show on Netflix
Yesterday I had to have watched at least three episodes of Breaking Bad. I’m hoping to be done season four by next week! I saw that Party of Five is now on Netflix, so that may be the next show I watch!
5) Reading Blogs
Yeah – I like to read what all of you write 🙂
6) Mom + Toddler Selfies
Sometimes when we are in the mood, Max and I will play with my phone and take selfies. He even knows to say ‘cheeeese’ before taking a picture. He cracks me up sometimes.
