Hey – it is the afternoon! It has been a bit of a crazy morning/early afternoon. But, it is Thursday and time for the weekly link up with Amanda at Running with Spoons for Thinking Out Loud Thursday!
#1 Track this week
I know I have been a bit quiet about track this spring, but that is what happens when you don’t coach high school track. I have been able to stop by the major meets, including this week’s city finals. I was able to see the 300/400m Hurdles yesterday and the 100m sprints today. I cheered on current students, former teams and saw many students from the various schools I have worked at this year. Next week is Eastern Ontario finals and unfortunately I probably won’t get to see anything since I have to be at Ottawa U. I did book off the provincial finals and will FINALLY get two solid days to watch some track. It definitely is a weird feeling to not be coaching a high school team this year – and showing up to the track in dress clothes!
#2 The weekend is here!
Not off from work weekend, but RACE WEEKEND. I am about to head downtown to pick up my bib and cruise around the expo. Definitely excited for the weekend! But who isn’t, right? I keep trying to convince Mayor Jim Watson to sign up for a 5K race one of these days (he makes appearances, but never runs). Today when I asked him to consider running next year, he asked if he could drive a golf cart instead…..
#3 Road ID
I finally bought a Road ID. It is about time! I bought a purple one and have been wearing it while running/will be wearing it during the race. It is pretty comfortable and was very affordable.
#4 The Leg
How is my leg doing? It is doing better. I don’t think it will cause any problems during race day, especially if I wear my compression socks. BUT – I also think that it is time for a bigger rest after this race because I hit marathon training. It if does act up on race day I think it is time to see a sports doc.
#5 Washroom Annoyance
Kind of random – but it really annoys me that people keep leaving the staff washroom lights on. It is just a single washroom, so there is no reason why the lights are on. The doors lock and can’t be open with a key when one is busy in the washroom – but still, I see the light is on and I feel like I’m going to walk into someone who is busy. Don’t get me started about the school toilet paper…..
P and Max built a sandbox over the long weekend. Max did indeed help! He woke up bright and early Monday asking to “go to work” and help. Now he has a great lil sandbox to play in. He played in his box for over an hour after school yesterday. I sent a picture of Max purchasing his supplies at Lowes Canada to their twitter and to Bryan Bauemler (host of a few Canadian HGTV shows) and they both responded. Too funny (and too cute)
#7 Did you watch….?
Modern Family ?!?!
I know some of you probably haven’t watched the season finales of the shows yet – but there was some great TV this week! I’m still not over the fact that Cristina Yang is off Grey’s….
Alrighty – time to go Expoing! I will be posting my goals post for this week’s race tomorrow and won’t blog again until my hosting change is done (which is scheduled for this weekend). Nothing too wonky should happen though – I just can’t create new stuff.
Let me know if you are running a race this weekend!
