Organic Green Tea Matcha Powder

In my quest to calm my tummy issues that became worse last month (although Sorbitol is what I found really triggered it) – I started cutting my caffeine intake. Before, I used to drink a cup of coffee when I got up, then a mug in the car, followed by another cup or two at work. Now, I tend to only drink my one cup of coffee in the morning and call it a day. But, I’ve been on the hunt for alternatives to hot and cold drinks since I do not drink pop often either (I can’t tell you the last time I bought pop at the store). I was approached to try Kiss Me Organic’s Green Tea Organic Matcha Powder – and I received a package of the powder to try, along with some recipes!

The Green Team Matcha Powder is a very versatile product that can be used in a variety of recipes – both for food and drink. I received a recipe book and in the book I found recipes for frosting, smoothies, fizzy drinks and hot drinks. The benefits of the Mathca powder are : all day energy, metabolism boost, increased focus, improving skin health and a source of antioxidants.

I tried out two drink recipes: The Green Tea Matcha Latte and created my own smoothie with products I had on hand.  The Latte was interesting. It had the texture of your usual latte, but had distinct green tea flavour, rather than espresso flavours. I think my latte would be better if I had a milk steamer (the recipe just calls for boiling milk/soy milk). I made a smoothie of banana, strawberries, milk and a teaspoon of the powder and you couldn’t really taste the green tea powder, but it was there! I would suggest mixing the powder in a bit of liquid first as my magic bullet didn’t mix the powder very well (it would probably be better with a vitamix).

The product sells for $29.00 on Amazon. It is a bit expensive, but as I mentioned, you can use it in a variety of ways. Try it out if you are interested in a new way to make smoothies and baked treats!

Disclosure: I was given a package of Kiss Me Organics to try. I was not compensated for this post, all opinions are my own.
