Fast Friday Five

It’s Friday!

A quick Friday-Five because I’m pressed for time today – we are leaving for Toronto tonight and I have to work a full day today (so sad right? j/k), so I’m running around trying to get a few things done.

 

Friday #1

YORKVILLE RUN!  After a 3 month hiatus, I finally get to race this weekend. I have zero goals for this race, I didn’t even bring my Garmin. I’m not in 5K PB shape right now because my pacing has had to drop significantly with marathon training. I’m pretty sure I can manage anywhere between 27-28 minutes, but as long as I’m under 30, I’m good. I have a half marathon coming up in two weeks plus a whole pile of longer runs, so no need to risk an injury. I hope to see a few of you there!

 

Friday #2

First week of school is done!  It has been a bit of a busy week. I currently teach just one class, but have been covering a drama class all week as they had to hire someone late in the game. Good news, they hired a friend who was our main supply teacher at last year’s placement. I have also been covering other classes too. Today at lunch I have a coaches meeting for Cross Country – I’m excited that I will get to coach XC again.

 

Friday #3

Speaking on coaching – track starts up again this week. I will be coaching on Thursdays this round. I’m looking forward to getting back to coaching. It has been a long month!

Friday #4

We haven’t had many 30+ temperature days here in Ottawa this summer. This has been great for running!  Yesterday it was 28C with a 33C humidex. Of course I went running at 1:30pm in the blazing sun for 1.5 hours. Yeah, to say it was tough is an understatement. It was a pretty brutal run. I was covered in salt too which is pretty gross. But 12K done! I’m not on rest for the next two days, yay!  I will have to run an extra 4K at some point on the weekend to keep on track of my weekly mileage.

Friday #5

I have had no pumpkin spiced anything yet. No Pumpkin Spice Lattes, no pumpkin muffins, no pumpkin pie. I feel like I should wait just a bit longer before I jump on the pumpkin bandwagon for another year. Odds are, I will wait so long that I will eat an entire pumpkin pie in one sitting….

    I don’t know about you but I’m tired from this first week back to school. It always takes me a while to get back into the rhythm of the school year.

    Good luck at your race this weekend!! Sounds like the weather will be perfect. I am not ready for pumpkin either. Or fall. Or Halloween. Or colder weather. Usually September stays fairly warm in Oregon and then once October hits, BAM, bring on the pumpkin, colder weather, and cute fall clothing. 🙂
