Friday Five

Happy Friday!

Another week has gone by, and fall is just around the corner. How about a Friday Five?

#1 – Sick

I cam down with a pretty nasty cold on Wednesday night and have been under the weather ever since. I barely made it through school/cross country yesterday and had to cancel on track last night. I took the day off today to rest. Being sick has kind of screwed up marathon training for this week. Luckily it is a 3-run week, and I managed to get one run in. I may run a very light run tomorrow, but I do want to save my legs and energy for the Army Run! I don’t think my marathon training will suffer from missing one 6K run…

#2 ARMY RUN

Since I just mentioned it, Army Run weekend is finally here! I really like this race and looking forward to my 5th year of running it. I am running the half marathon this year and other than the whole sickness thing, it should be a good run for me. I don’t really have any big goals for this race. What I want is a nice long run with my pace staying consistent and negative splits. I tend to die out on the last 5K, and I’m hoping not to repeat that. Right now, my goal time is 2:15, but we will see if that actually happens. Since Army Run isn’t my goal race, I need to make sure that I am not exhausting myself and needing days of recovery after. I am hoping to be downtown by 8am on Sunday to cheer on the 5K runners – maybe I will see some of you there!

#3 Swimming time

Max starts swimming lessons tonight. He is a Sea Turtle. Max has become much more brave with the water, and insisting he “swims” by himself now (he has a life jacket on). Before he would clutch us and not wanting to let go. I’m sure he will have a great time. Max likes physical activity. On Wednesday I brought him to my school’s BBQ and he ran a full lap of the track (chasing down random runners) and then ran around some more. He then thought it was a great idea to go coach football….

#4 Want a good snack?

Find some graham crackers. Top with a bit of Trader Joe’s Cookie Butter-Cocoa Swirl and a marshmallow. Put in the oven under broil for a few minutes and boom, instant s’mores!

#5 TV Shows return

Finally – all my shows are returning next week. Most of the time, I watch: Grey’s Anatomy, Parenthood, Big Bang Theory and Amazing Race. I haven’t gotten into many other programs lately. We have been watching 24 from the beginning. We are at the start of Season/Day 3 now. By the way, my ringtone for my phone is  the CTU ringtone….

Have a great weekend!!  Good luck to everyone running this weekend!

Sounds like you have a good plan. Last year I also ran it in about 2:15 as a training run for a fall marathon. It is so much easier to get your long run in when it is part of a race!

That s’more idea = genius. My husband and I watched every season of 24 this past year. Could not get enough. I have heard great things about Parenthood. That may become the show I watch while on the trainer.
