Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

Max loves all kinds of animals and aquatic life – he also really like Jellyfish, mostly due to the huge Jellyfish display at the Museum of Nature in Ottawa. So, in our travels to Toronto, we decided to take Max to Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. First we went to Chipotle Grill for some burrito bowls, where I finally go to meet Carmy! Yay! She got to witness Max’s antics first hand 🙂

The Aquarium is fairly new to Toronto and therefore popular. We purchased our tickets beforehand, but still had to stand in a huge line for about 10-15 minutes. The Aquarium was super busy. So busy, that both P and I had the same thought – what if something bad happened and we needed to be evacuated. The place was covered with people and it was really hard to see anything, which was too bad because the Aquarium was really nice!

The Aquarium is one of those path-style attractions where you start in a specific spot and go in order. There we saw everything, but couldn’t go back to anything without going against the crowd which would have been horrible. Max really liked the sharks, stingrays and jellyfish (of course). He even got to touch a little shark.

The price for adults was around $30 and Max was $10. It would have been more worth it if the crowds were a bit less intense. There is lots to see and do! I’ve been to the Sydney Aquarium in Australia, and its sort of the same idea. But I had the place to myself there!

I’m not sure if the crowds are that busy all the time, but if you have small children, I would avoid the aquarium until it gets a bit less popular. Or, if you can go during a school day – that might be better. The aquarium has lots to see and do, but unless you really want to fight the crowds, you don’t get the whole experience.

Hope everyone has something planned for tonight! I will be battling the winds/windchill for a little 5K action today. Seriously, can I please run a race this season without some sort of wacko weather? Also – good luck to Running Lonely who is just about ready to start a 24 hour race today! Amazing! I don’t even think I can stay awake that long….

Have a fabulous New Year’s Eve!

I think all Ripley’s attractions are like that… when I lived in Myrtle Beach, Ripley’s was always crowded when we went!! Glad to hear that Max loves the ocean 😉 maybe you have a future marine biologist on your hands 🙂 Good luck on your 5k!
