#1 Goodbye Target Canada 🙁

Target just announced that they are closing the Canadian stores after only a few short years. I am very disappointed. I live 2 minutes away from a Target and it was my shop of choice for so many things. I liked that I didn’t have to drive 15 minutes to go to the awful Wal-Mart and deal with Innes traffic. I liked that the store was clean. I liked the sales. Most of the Target stores are in locations where Zellers used to be – I’m wondering what they are going to do with all these empty retail spots now? So there goes another ‘American’ thing from Canada-land

#2 Christmas Trees

Last night, Max and I spent over an hour cleaning up the Christmas tree. Needles everywhere! I really hate the clean up involved with Christmas trees. I swear that I find pine needles in July! But, the job was done and now I have a big portion of the living room back.

#3 No iPhone you don’t need to cool down….

It was really cold in my car this morning and my iPhone decided it was “too hot”?!?! I got the message on my phone that it needs to cool down before I could use it again. Umm, Apple – you might want to fix that message 🙂 I wish it was too hot!

#4 Golden Globes/Academy Awards

The Golden Globes were on Sunday and I did watch most of the program. Academy Award nominations are happening as I type.  I guess I have come to the point in my life that I don’t know about a single movie that has been nominated. The only movies I saw in 2014 were Frozen, Maleficent and Hunger Games. Not exactly “Best Picture” material 😉  I do usually watch the movies when they come on Netflix – but I still have a number of Best Picture flicks to watch. Maybe I should watch less Gilmore Girls….

#5 What the…..

My blog did something really weird when I was typing this. I love using WordPress, but holy cow is it a pain to keep up with sometimes in terms of hackers, malware and other assorted crap.

Ok – time to work! Have a great Thursday!

Tough luck about Target. I prefer shopping there as well. However think of Walmart as great mental training for your next race!

haha yup! I almost automatically go into fetal position when I walk into Walmart. Hate it (and I used to work there!)

I wonder why the Target stores are closing? Everyone loves Target (SO much better than Walmart). I know what you mean about the Christmas Tree clean up. I always dread the day when we have to take Christmas down. Pine needles everywhere – and we find them year round too! I can’t wait to watch the Academy Awards. I always love seeing all of the beautiful dresses!

I have no idea why Canadians didn’t like Target. I felt like many people didn’t even give it a chance. They thought that the prices would be magically the same as the US stores. Well nothing in Canada is like the US – even evil Walmart. People thought it was expensive, but when I went to stupid Walmart, the prices seemed almost the same. I got lots of great deals at Target. I’m really disappointed, I’m going to have to go 15 minutes out of my way to buy things like laundry/dish soap, clothes for Max and all that kind of stuff. Our nearest “big box” stores are in another part of town.

I was wondering about what they’re going to do with all that retail space! I don’t ever go to Target, but I’m pretty surprised they’re closing.

I’m not too surprised – but I’m very disappointed! There are tons of people who shop at the one in my suburb. Now we are going to have to drive 15 minutes to the main shopping area of Orleans 🙁 I liked that I could walk to Target

Hmm what a shame about the Targets. Have you heard any reason to the closings? 🙁

The stores were not doing well at all

They opened way too many stores and didn’t really have any stock (from what I’ve heard). People complained that the stores were not as cheap as the American stores – but that is true for all stores, including Wal-mart. I actually found the prices to be quite reasonable. I’m disappointed as this doesn’t leave many options for discount department store shopping
