Although it comes as no surprise, I am pretty “lazy” on weekends during the winter. This point has been made pretty clear by the Jawbone UP24 statistics. Although I do tend to hit my 10,000 steps on weekdays, I so far have yet to hit 10,000 on a Saturday or Sunday. Yesterday I walked only 5285 steps. On Track Thursdays, I typically walk/run over 14,000 steps in a day.
The big part of the problem is that during the months of January/February, I don’t run on weekends. P is busy working on building a robot (check out FIRST robotics if you want to know more about it) and working every weekend until late. I do not run at night, especially in the winter and my gym only has daycare hours for a short time in the mornings. So – running on the weekends has been non existent. If I don’t run, my steps go way down for the day.
It has been disappointing to not run on weekends. I know that I am doing oodles better with running in the winter this year than any other year, but I feel like I’ve missed some great running weather days. It doesn’t help when the weekend temperatures are more mild than the weekdays. I have seen several people out running and wish I could join them. Treadmill running is ok and all, but running outside feels so much better.
I am running outside today at lunch! I was going to run during second period as well, but now I have to cover another class. I will probably get 4K or so done at lunch and might just go run a few more KM before heading back outside. The weather is pretty nice today. A balmy -10C out right now, which feels amazing! Later on tonight, I am going skiing with the school, which should be fun! I’m not sure how my Jawbone will react to “ski steps”. We shall see!
Lots of activity today – which is good because tomorrow I have to commute to the Board office and sit all day. I think I’m going to have to pay $5 and take Max to the gym with me tomorrow evening. Thank goodness for gym daycare!
