Skiing and Broken House Stuff

Happy Monday!

I went skiing at Mont Tremblant with the school on Saturday. We left Ottawa bright and early at 6:30am and were on the slopes by 9:30am. It wasn’t too terribly cold, but there was a bit of a windchill, so I felt mighty cold during some runs. There were times that I had to stop and warm up my hands, even though I had one a pair of gloves, a pair of high quality mitts and those hand warmer things. I also need to purchase something to cover my face.

I stuck with green circle runs this time as I was being mighty sloppy with my skiing. I did manage to “catch some air” when someone cut me off and I went up a mound of snow by a post. I also thought it was fun to go around some snow-making posts and at one point was skiing on one leg. I should really go on the blue square runs more often since I tend to get bored at the end of the long, easy runs. I did go on the steep part at the bottom of the south side (seen below) and it was easy – so why I felt I couldn’t handle intermediate runs is beyond me.

The brutal part was the bus ride home. It takes exactly 2 hours to get from the base to Orleans and this time it took us 3.5 hours to get home. We got stuck behind a line of snow plows and since we were in a coach bus, we couldn’t pass them. Then we arrived in snowy Ottawa and got stuck in random Saturday night traffic (due to the snow). After all of that, I had to clear off the commuter car and finally I was home. I was sound asleep by 9pm!

On Sunday, P was at robots and I was busy cleaning the house. I noticed two wet spots in Max’s room and then looked up and saw water dripping from our attic access. In the warmer (8C) temperatures on Sunday, we had sprung a leak! I got the buckets out and saw were the leak was coming from. There is a small hole in our roof. We somewhat remedied it – but the roof is the responsibility of our condo corp, so we will see what they say.

In all of that, I was trying to do laundry. I had a load in the washer and noticed that the cycle would not go to spin – and would just stop. No matter how many times I tried to get it to spin, it wouldn’t. I had been having problems with the lid lock and figured it was bust. We took it apart and it seems like everything else is in order but the lid lock switch. We ordered a part today and will hopefully be living in clean laundry on Wednesday! P and I are pretty much ok for clean clothes – Max is on his second last pair of pants – oh no’s!

That is all for now – I’ve been doing some blog maintenance and now have to do some school work – have  a great evening!

The skiing looks great! The house breakage, well, less so.

Looks like fun! Except for a lack of clean laundry haha. I can empathize.
