Weekends free of any commitments are very, very rare around here. Someone always has somewhere to be, and from January-April, robotics is in full swing and P is usually at work both or for at least one of the weekend days. Usually things are so crazy that I’m basically just running around trying to get normal things like laundry, groceries and cleaning done. Forget stuff like going out, sleeping in (what is that?), and meal prepping. I’m lucky if I even get all the laundry done in a weekend. Weekdays are also equally as busy, just as our mortgage contact who I had to call to cancel an appointment for this Friday because I plum forgot that I had a track meet. Opps.
This weekend we had absolutely nothing on the agenda and it was a FOUR DAY weekend. Score! I did end up going to track on Monday, so I guess I couldn’t say I did not have any commitments, but really the weekend was completely open. We ended up doing lots of stuff including:
– bike rides
– running (well, I went running)
– cleaning the entire house – which Max promptly destroyed
– inquires at Ikea
– took Max on a hunt to find the easter bunny
– Went to the toy store
– got a massage
– and all the usual weekend stuff.
We even watched two movies – two! We watched The Grand Budapest Hotel (loved it!), and the newest X-men movie (so many questions). Of course, it was Easter Weekend, so Max did end up going on an egg hunt. Even Buzz and Woody got in on the action. We were at Ikea and they randomly had face-painting, so Max asked to be a white bunny.
(Trying to find more easter eggs)
The only thing that I really didn’t get to do was sleep more. Max wakes up around 6:30am on weekends and when I go to bed later, it definitely hurts. I totally could spend an entire morning in bed just catching up on sleep. This weekend the weather is looking amazing and I don’t think we have much on the agenda. Which is a good thing because the next 3 weeks or so are going to be nuts! Spoiler alert – I’m going to a conference next week! The only trips I tend to do these days is track meet trips, which still involves watching other people’s kids – so a conference with adults is going to be a little shocking! Plus, I’m flying Porter – so that should be good!
Hope everyone is having a great day!
What do you do on weekends?
