Another Thinking Out Loud Thursday – linking up with Amanda at Running with Spoons
#1 – Leaving on a Jet Plane
I am leaving for Toronto this afternoon to attend a short conference. This is a conference that is only held every 4 years, to help Civics/Government teachers get ready for the Federal Election, which is in the Fall. The conference is looking like quite the event, if you are interested in Politics. I also get to take a plane to Toronto. This is my first plane trip alone in over three years! I’m flying Porter, so I’m quite excited to hang out in the Porter Lounge and fly without a 3 year old running around.
#2 – KIMMY
Yesterday was “what not to wear” day at school. I have a very special sweater that I save for this particular spirit day. This year my influence of choice was the one and only, Kimmy Gibbler! Do you like my outfit?
#3 – Speaking of Outfits I never wear:
I finally found a use for my NYC Marathon Poncho – early morning track practices! I may have looked goofy, but I was toasty warm. Speaking of the ponco – the baggage and transportation options for the 2015 NYC Marathon are now open. I strongely suggest that you select “no baggage” to score the great lookin’ poncho. Honestly, I didn’t feel the need for a bag at all. I would also suggest the ferry option as well, because it is pretty amazing to go past the Statue of Liberty and stare at that massive bridge as you make your way to Staten Island. The only thing that I would warn against is booking the last ferry that is available to you: I got to the site with less than 15 minutes before I was supposed to be in my corral and about 30 minutes to spare before I was due to run. The bus from the Ferry terminal to the site takes FOREVER and then you have to walk a long way to your village. I was prepared to way for hours, but literally ran around getting ready and was off “marathoning” before I knew it.
#4 – Rip up the floor and put it back
We have a luxury vinyl floor in our kitchen. I posted about it awhile ago when we first put the floor in. In the past two years, the flooring has shifted and exposed the under-stuff (I’m so technical when it comes to construction). We decided, with talking to the manufacturers to glue the floor down. This meant ripping up the floor and glueing it all back together. It didn’t take too long, but the glue needed 24-48 hours to set, so we were without a fully working kitchen since Sunday. I did like having the fridge in the living room though, it brought my laziness to a whole new level. Everything was put back into place last night. Hopefully the tiles don’t move!
#5 BOSTON on MONDAY!
I get a bit too excited about the Boston Marathon. Even though I am no where near close to BQing, I still love watching the marathon and cheering on anyone I know running the race. This year is a bit different as I don’t directly know anyone running it (even my Elite Canadian faves are not running it) – but I know lots of blogger/twitter friends who are running the race. I look forward (as always) to cheering them on during Marathon Monday. This will be my 4th year of watching the race. The first year I watched the race, I was on maternity leave, the following year I might have pulled out the projector and watched it in class. Last year was Easter, and unfortunately I made the mistake of booking a Easter activity for Max, so we did that first. I did get to catch some of it though. This year, I am working again, but in the morning, I am in Comm Tech so you know we are watching it in class while we work on our media projects! YAY!
Alrighty – time to work! Have a great Thursday!
