What a better day than National Running Day to get out there and run a little bit. I have not run since Ottawa Race Weekend, giving my left leg a much needed rest. Today I ran 2K relatively problem free. I am still a few weeks away from marathon training (sticking with my 16 week plan), so the next couple of weeks are just about fun running. Probably no watch involved and solely by feel. I do know almost all the KM markings from my house though, so I will have a rough estimate of distance
I did have my initial assessment with my physiotherapist today. Pretty sure that is just some inflamed muscle/tendon/other parts that is causing me a bit of grief. Within two seconds of touching my left leg, she noticed a couple of spots that were in need of attention. She also did a full assessment of everything else that could potentially have a problem: back, hips, flexibility – all that sort of thing. A few things that were found:
– I have great foot flexibility but not much leg muscle flexibility
– I am borderline flat footed (although I knew that already)
– Bit of a curve in my back (been noted before)
– Hips are nice and aligned and no problem in the knees.
So – for the next two weeks, I am going in to see her 2x a a week to get a few things worked on. Hopefully after two weeks, it will be an “as needed” basis. I’ve got to get the legs figured out before marathon training gets heavy!
Since it is National Running Day – how about a running related movie tonight? My choice is McFarland! I am also bringing the DVD on the “OFSAA Bus” tomorrow morning (travelling to provincial champs tomorrow). Have a great running day!
