MONDAY! Don’t know why I’m yelling because I would rather be sleeping….
Usually I post a training report or at least a race recap on Mondays. But this week, I have nothing! Nothing happened last week. No weight training, no running, nothing. The only reason I had my running shoes on was because I had a busy week coaching.
As I’ve mentioned before, my left leg has been bothering me lately. Not exactly sure what the deal is, but I’m thinking either a muscle strain or some mild tendonitis. Nothing “hurts” but my leg feels very tight. I’ve had two massages and have been RICE-ing (Rest-Ice-Compression-Elevation) all week. I also decided to take the week completely off from everything. So now, a week later – my leg does feel better, but still not right. I have a physio appointment on Wednesday. Hopefully we can figure out what the heck is going on.
Today I am going to go back to GoodLife to get an upper body/core workout done. I’ve started creating my marathon plan for STWM and this time strength training will be part of my plan. My running plan will be pretty much the same as last year’s marathon training with an extra 2-3KM added per week. High mileage plans just don’t work for me, both physically and time-management wise. I can easily finish a marathon with the plan I created last year. I might be a tad bit faster this year though. Fun fact about training distances: When Lanni Marchant was at my school, one of the kids asked her what was the longest distance she ever ran, and her response was simply “marathon!”. Even Lanni doesn’t run more than about 22 miles during her long runs. Compare that to the picture Meb Keflezighi posted on twitter – 30+ miles? might be a double-workout day, but wow..
Since running hasn’t been happening lately. I can indulge in a few treats, liking watching Lanni and Tasha race the Calgary Half Marathon and eat an entire box of Birthday Cake Timbits
