Thinking Out Loud #44

Thursday – which really feels like Friday since I’m off to Toronto for OFSAA Track and Field. OFSAA is our provincial championship and a pretty big deal for Ontario High School students.
Another Thinking Out Loud Thursday – linking up with Amanda at Running with Spoons

#1 Speaking of OFSAA

We are staying in a dorm at U of T – great… Usually when we stay at dorms, we get not-comfy beds and a bunch of other issues like no wifi. Our sports organization in Ottawa makes arrangements on our behalf (if we want) and we get stuck with whatever they decide. It always seems to flip flop between hotels like the Delta and Hiltons or University Dorms. At least this year we are not dependant on buses to get us to the track.

#2 Nike Toronto 15K

If you are running the Nike 15K in Toronto next weekend – you would have recieved an email with your corral assignment and corresponding ferry trip time. I have to be in the corral by 9:15am. My ferry time – 6:30 in the morning. Apparently I am to be there by 6am. I’m staying in Mississauga, which means a really early wake up. Since my parents read this – can I have a ride? LOL

This is like NYC all over again, but worse. At least with NYC, I didn’t have to be on the Ferry until 7:30am and it took a million years to get to the start. I’m probably going to be on the island at what, 7am? Pre-race nap? There are a few of us that are running this race solely for fun (and mostly to get the sweet necklace at the end). I’m also thinking that pre and post race will be a bit of a party! One good thing, is that early race kit pickup starts this week and I’m actually just down the street from one of the locations. No need for me to go to Toronto on the Saturday!

#3 House Hunting

We are looking at moving sometime next year, so we have started looking at a few houses in two areas: East Ottawa and West Ottawa. Two opposite ends of town. We currently live in East Ottawa, but P works all the way in West Ottawa. I can essentially take a job anywhere, but we prefer the East end. We went and saw a few homes in the West on the weekend. We found one little “estate style” subdivision that we really liked. We actually found one house that seemed to hit many of the essential items we are looking for (open concept, garages, 1 acre property) but then we discovered that it isn’t in the city of Ottawa boundaries. For P and I – that is no big deal. It is all about Max and school districts. The school he would go to is actually really close, but the high school isn’t the greatest. We shall see! We also some some interesting homes – including one weird home that was brand new: pillars, over the top decorations and then the weird layout including having a powder room right beside a full bath. Are we in that much of a need for toilets that there needs to be two right beside each other? And it opened right into the living room/kitchen – imagine what would happen if someone had No. 2.

Another house had these room dividers that stood about a metre and a bit tall to separate the living room from the kitchen. But instead of a standard wall divider, it had windows in the middle. Windows to what? The back of the couch? Why? What is the point of that?

#4 Finally registered for:

Another year with the Army Run Half Marathon. I will have to add 4K before and after the race this time. When creating my marathon training plan I did realize that the race kind of lands on an awkward week of training with my 2nd longest run. Oh well!

#5 Speaking of training

My daycare provider is taking her vacation a little earlier than planned and for a week I have absolutely no idea on how I’m going to run because P is no around that week. I can get treadmill running in for shorter runs – it is the long run that has me nervous. I might have to spend lots of time in Toronto this July. I’m definitely coming down for the Beaches Tune up Run for STWM!

Time to board the OFSAA bus – Have a great Thursday!!

Dad says sure for Sunday. It would be later than his normal time to wake up. You can buy the timmies!

YAY for house hunting!!! Although there are stressful moments, shopping for a new home is so exhilarating. The entire process of packing, moving, getting to decorate, buy new furniture… it’s all very exciting to me. I hope you can find the perfect place for you and your family. Training run with the kiddo – maybe you could do a long-ish run at the track. I know it’s not that exciting to run laps upon laps, but at least your son can stay close and maybe entertain himself on some kind of toy? Ride next to you?

it wouldn’t be as stressful if I had some sort of stability job wise – it still is fun though!
