Thinking Out Loud #46

Another Thinking Out Loud Thursday – linking up with Amanda at Running with Spoons

I am finally returning to track practice tonight with the Lions. I’ve missed the past three practices (although most of the group was with me for the first 2 weeks) due to the high school track season. I missed last week’s practices for our annual Coaches Banquet. It has been awhile! Our summer season is rather short this year as our big summer track meet has been pushed up a few weeks. Normally the meet is on the August long weekend, but this year it is in mid-July. All of the track meets are on different weekends this year. This weekend is our big multi-event meet, which I have helped out before in 2013 and 2014. Sadly, due to the event being during Exams, I do not get to volunteer on Friday but have the whole day scheduled for Saturday. If you are in the Ottawa area, please come out to watch. It is a FREE event and there are several Olympians competing this weekend, including Canada’s Jessica Zelinka. I might have done some major fist-pumping yesterday when I realized that I am able to watch Jessica hurdle tomorrow afternoon. In 2012 Jessica not only made the Olympic team for the heptathlon, but also the hurdles. Seriously, come on out!

Right now all of my shoes are worn out except my newest pair of Wave Inspires and my racing flats. I do not like the Wave Riders at all, and my Blue Wave Inspires are done. I keep reading that having a shoe rotation is a good thing. I was supposed to be at the track last night for a meeting, but stupid traffic meant that I would have missed half the meeting by the time I got there, so I went to Sports 4 instead. I tried on the new Wave Inspires (which I will eventually purchase) and tried on a pair of Saucony shoes (can’t remember which ones) and Brooks Ravenna 6. I really like the Wave Inspires, but was looking for something I bit different. I absolutely hated the Saucony shoes and took them off in about two seconds. The Brooks Ravenna’s felt different that the Mizunos and had a bit more arch support – something that might be beneficial since my arches are barely there. So, I bought them. I will be taking them out for a spin tomorrow.

#3 Click to Read more

I read all my blogs on Feedly. In full transparency, I get annoyed when bloggers switch their reading settings so that if you are reading on some sort of Feed, you have to “click more” to read the entire post. I do click on some of them because I truly love reading what they write, but for some it is a turn-off and I won’t click on the link. I think that Feedly reads do not count towards page views or something like that? I do click on blogs when I want to comment though. I get more irritated when as soon as I click to read more and I get a site full of adds and pop-ups – especially if I’m on my phone/iPad.

#4 Best part about Exams

The admin buys us coffee and donuts!

#5 Never ever eat…..

A pepperoni stick and a probiotic yogurt an hour before going out for a run.ย Unless tummy aches and other assorted “things” are what you aim for. That pepperoni stick almost made a repeat appearance.

Time to mark!

Haha whenever I do the “click to read more” thing it’s to make the homepage of my blog look a little neater. I’ll keep your preferences in mind though ๐Ÿ˜›

Does your theme support having a exerpt layout separately from the settings tab that controls the feed? You can have both ๐Ÿ˜‰

I do click on your blog though!

I saw the doughnut, and I had to comment. :))) It looks delish. Thanks for the note on the pepperoni stick and yogurt. I hope your tummy is feeling better now.

I’ve never used Feedly before, so I have no idea how my blog shows up. ๐Ÿ™‚ There definitely should not be any pop-ups.

Brooks are my favorite shoes. I hope you really like the Ravennas. I have been in the Glycerin for a couple of years and can’t imagine wearing anything else. I also like that they update the styles so often. You’ll have to do a quick review once you have worn them once or twice.

Basically I see your pictures and text – and since I comment on your blog, I eventually see your layout and you definitely have a nice one!
