Thinking Out Loud #60

Happy Thursday!

Another Thinking Out Loud Thursday – linking up with Amanda at Running with Spoons.

#1 Busy Bee

I haven’t posted anything this week except my usual Monday training update. It has been a busy week! On top of regular school stuff, XC is in full swing and I just started an online teacher qualification course. I’m taking the course to be qualified to teach Family Studies (think Food and Nutrition, Parenting, Fashion). It might help me secure permanent employment a bit faster. The course is using the same online learning platform that I use for summer school. Good, because I already know how to navigate the system, but bad because I actually do not like the platform. Should be interesting!

#2 First XC meet

We had our first XC meet yesterday. Since our numbers were low, we only needed one coach, so I just went at lunch and during my prep period. It was a chilly day! The student-athletes did great, with the senior girls team placing 2nd. Next meet is in a few weeks!  The next meet is really close to my house, so I want to see if I can arrange to meet the team there. We will see 🙂

#3 Speaking of running…..

I was sent a couple of items from Brooks in the mail. I recieved a pair of Glycerin 13’s and a LSD Jacket. I will be posting a full review of both items after I have the chance to try them out some more. The LSD is a very light jacket that is waterproof and keeps out the wind. Might be useful for my last long run on Saturday as it is supposed to rain. The colours of both the shoes and jacket are very bright. The team could spot me from anywhere!  Also – my Principal totally gave me a weird look when I was wandering the halls in my “active wear” then remembered that we had a XC meet. My current school is a bit more dressy, meaning no one wears active wear or jeans. A bit opposite of my other schools!

#4 Missing Target

I drive by an empty Target every single day. I definitely miss Target. Why Canada, did you have to be so mean to Target? Part of the reason I miss Target is because it is a department store that is close to my house. I could just swing by and grab something. I even did most of my Christmas shopping at Target last year. Even Max misses Target. He loved to wonder around the store.

#5 Leaving on a jet plane….

I received a very interesting email yesterday and it looks like I will be heading to Nova Scotia at the end of the month. I will provide some more details later, but it is a work trip – nothing blog/running related. It is a very unique opportunity. I discussed the trip with my Principal yesterday and we both agreed that it is one of those opportunities that doesn’t come along that often and I should go. So excited! More details soon 🙂

#6 Highest mileage month!

Yesterday after I got home, I ran out to run 3K so that I could finish September running with a bang. Obviously, this year hasn’t been the best for running, especially the second half. Up until yesterday, the month with the most mileage was April at around 75K. September was 76.5K. YAY! Still no where near last September’s total of over 150KM, but that is marathon training. A bit of a different monster. I head to the Sports Med Doctor today – hopefully all good news!

Time to work! Have a great day!

I love my Brooks Glycerin and can’t wait to start running in them in a few weeks (fingers crossed). That is awesome that you get to go to Nova Scotia! Crazy!!! Have you ever been there before? I know your trip is not related to running, but hopefully you can get in a few scenic runs while you are there.

I would be missing Target too!!! Where do you shop now instead?

Although I’ve travelled to the US, Australia and Austria – I’ve never been outside Ontario/Quebec! So I’m a little excited to finally go to the east coast. Not sure how much time I will have – I’m expecting a loaded itinerary.

      You will be running soon!!

Haha, Walmart? And I hate walmart. I also buy nothing but cleaning supplies and toiletries there

Nova Scotia! That sounds awesome. I’ve actually never been to the Canadian east coast, but I’d love to explore it one day. I hear it’s super beautiful.
