I am usually very rushed in the mornings and sometimes do not eat breakfast until I get into work. Because of the nature of my job, I don’t like to eat foods that upset my tummy first thing in the morning. Usually, I end up eating plain cereal or a bagel. Pretty boring. I also find that by 9am, I’m hungry again!
Manitoba Harvest send me some Hemp Hearts to try out. I have reviewed them before, but this time tried the hemp hearts out on a few different dishes including oatmeal, yogurt and salads. Mixing some hemp hearts into my morning yogurt is still my number one breakfast choice, but I’ve actually enjoyed mixing in the hemp hearts in my salads as well. The Hemp Hearts had a bit of texture and flavour but are not overwhelming. But even better, the hemp hearts have 10g of plant protein and 10g of omegas per 30g serving. I swear the protein helps me stay full longer.
In the morning, I like to sprinkle on some hemp hearts onto my probiotic yogurt with added fruit. A bit more of a nutritious breakfast! Manitoba Harvest hemp hearts also taste great in oatmeal. We are about to head into oatmeal season and if you are looking for a great flavour mix – look at my choco-strawberry oatmeal recipe here.
