Thinking Out Loud Thursday #73

Another Thinking Out Loud Thursday – linking up with Amanda at Running with Spoons

#1 Happy New Years!

Ok – a bit early, but it’s 2016 somewhere! Another fast year. 2015 was a great year and 2016 is shaping up to be another great year. I did have some goals listed for 2015. They were:

– PB the 5K, 10K, half and full marathon

– eat more fruits and vegetables

– become a stronger runner

– don’t sit

– do something other than track, school and running

I think I did well with my goals. I did not attempt a marathon this year, but I did PB in all other distances. I definitely started eating more fruits and veggies. I even took salads/veggie plates to work. Going to GoodLife regularly meant that I am a stronger runner: most notable in my arms and legs that have been more defined. I felt that going to GoodLife at least once a week during the half marathon training season is what really made the difference in how I felt while running the half. Not sitting as much is getting better – but I still tend to find somewhere to sit when I’m teaching. I think most of that has to do with my back hurting. I did modify my desk to be a bit more “stand desk” friendly when I was teaching online this summer.  Doing something other than track, school and running really didn’t happen. Next year?

#2 Goodbye Garmin 410

My Garmin is no longer working. I attempted to charge it yesterday and it just wouldn’t charge, even with a hard reset. Odds are, the battery is gone. I could go and get it fixed, but Running Room had a special on for the Garmin 15’s and I had a gift card, so a purple Garmin Forerunner 15 will be on my wrist in the new year. They only had the black one in stock, so I ordered it online to be sent to the store. I contemplated getting a more higher end Garmin, but really the only features I use are pace and distance, so why bother? Plus I can wear the 15 on my wrist as a watch too!

#3 Home Renos

Our vacation time is almost over. We go back to school on Monday. Our renos are stalled just a bit because we need access to P’s school to finish the mantle and modifying a vanity to fit in our ensuite bathroom. Our house is a bit wacky in terms of construction. I think we figured out why people are not really touching the bathrooms when they go to reno and sell their townhome. Small things become a bit problematic and when we tear into the walls/fireplace, we have found building mistakes that need correcting. I also found a mouse home under the fireplace. Luckily the mouse was long gone.

The ensuite shower has been torn out

and Max likes to help!

We also spent a small fortune at Lowe’s yesterday. We got almost everything we needed. I even found a NYC photo to put up somewhere in the house. We have a lack of Art on our walls.

Anyways that is all I have for today and I have to go and paint now. Have a great New Year’s Eve!

I’ve had the same Garmin since I started running back in 2011. I fear a small piece of my soul will die when he dies…

Yay for home renovations!! I used to think Lowe’s was so boring when I was younger, but now that we have our own home, I swear it’s full of exciting opportunities! Have a great New Years!!

Home rennovation is so fun to watch! 🙂 How long have you had your Garmin? I’ve had mine for about 3 years. And it’s still going! Praise the Lord!
