Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts Bar

One of my resolutions for better training for the Ottawa Marathon is eating better snacks. Way too often, I am seen grabbing a chocolate bar or some convenient not too great for me snack. I’ve reviewed Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts before, but today I bring to you another product that you might like: Hemp Heart Bars!

I was sent two bars from Manitoba Harvest: Chocolate and Apple Cinnamon. Each bar contains 10g protein and 10g of Omegas 3 & 6. The bars are perfect for a snack on the good, or for a quick energy boost during that 2pm sleepy time at work. The Hemp Heart bars faced the ultimate test. I threw the bars into my bag and carried them around for a bit before I tried them. I usually have a number of bars in my bag in case of a snack emergency. A pet peeve of mine (and probably a lazy habit) is that I tend to keep bars in my bag for a day or two (ok, a week) and the bars become crushed. The Manitoba Harvest bars were perfectly fine in my bag. Another added positive is that the bars were not super chewy nor too hard. It was the perfect bar in terms of how easy it was to eat.

The taste wasn’t the best. Although it wasn’t bad, it just didn’t have enough flavour for me. I could definitely have used some more chocolate! The other flavour besides chocolate and apple cinnamon was vanilla. The bars go for $31.99 for a case of 12. That is a little pricey for your everyday bar for the lunch bag, but just slightly more expensive than other comparable bars like Kind Bars. I definitely enjoy the texture and taste of these bars over other protein bars.

I appreciate that you were honest in this review about the taste. Personally, I wasn’t a fan of them at all.

I definitely need more flavour for the price. I did like the texture though
