Thinking Out Loud Thursday #79

Happy Thursday!

Another Thinking Out Loud Thursday – linking up with Amanda at Running with Spoons!

#1 The Day is Here!

Grey’s is back!

The show has been on hiatus since NOVEMBER. I look forward to my Grey’s after track practice, and that has been lacking for awhile. The episode is looking like a typical “Stressful Grey’s” one. Great….

#2 Slow Cooker Chicken

I received a bigger crockpot slow cooker for Christmas and have been experimenting with different recipes. I have cooked my Mushroom Chicken pot pie filling several times, but also tried slow cooking some different meats as well. I made this Cilantro-Lime Chicken dish a few weeks ago for meat for burrito bowls and it was excellent. I tried a Hawaiian Pork recipe and it wasn’t as tasty. This week I tried a roast chicken! I was a bit skeptical about a whole chicken in the slow cooker, but it worked! My previous slow cooker could not fit a whole chicken. I marinated the chicken in lemon juice, fresh thyme and salt&pepper for a few hours and then placed it into the slow cooker on a bed of carrots and onions. It made my house smell amazing! The verdict? Delicious! Although Beer Can Chicken is also equally as easy and tasty.

#3 New Fridge

Speaking of the fresh thyme – our new fridge is amazing. It is slightly bigger than our other fridge and has the freezer on the bottom rather than on top (which I don’t love). What I’ve been finding is that my vegetables and fresh herbs are lasting so much longer in the new fridge. I’ve had that thyme in my fridge for over a week and a half and its still green. Cilantro lasts more than a week (usually it is 2-3 days). Love it! Maybe all newer fridges are like this? Our old fridge is from 2000!

#4 iPhone clean out

Despite the fact that my iPhone “talks” to my computer and sends photos via iCloud to Photos – I still manually plug my phone in and dump all the pictures onto my computer. When I mean all the pictures, I mean all of them – even ones that are forever on my phone (like NYC photos). I probably do this about once a month and probably have 10 folders of photos with the same photos. I just took a look at my storage and I’m not even at halfway full yet. My iPhone is full all the time. I did find some great old pictures:

#5 New iPhones are HOW MUCH?

As I mentioned last week – I switched to a prepaid plan via Koodo. I was looking at how much iPhones were on the Apple website and for the newest iPhone 6S at 64 gigs, the phone is $1024…..

Wow.

Looking at the Macs – I could buy a brand new Macbook Air for $50 more.

I still have my Macbook 2008 – but it is starting to show its age. I have my iMac for actual computer work (and its perfectly A-ok). But some days I wish I had a more powerful laptop that could run Photoshop.

#6 New Bed!

We finally set up Max’s twin sized bed on Tuesday. The bed frame is actually Paul’s and is part of a bunk bed set – but we refinished it and painted it. Then we went to Ikea to buy a new mattress and a new duvet. Max loves it! He looks so small in it though

I didn’t realize that Ikea rolled up some of their mattresses and made it easy to carry. I easily picked up the mattress myself with no help and got it in the car easily. Super cool!

That is all for today – Have a great Thursday!!!

I still manually back up my phone too. Mostly because with icloud I think it just automatically uploads everything and when I take a photo I take like 10 of the same thing, so I want to delete all the outtakes before going to my computer.

Ok that price is insane for a new iPhone. I got mine with service provider after I was due for an upgrade, but I’m not sure I would have gotten one if I had to pay that much. A new computer is totally more worth it — this coming from someone who just got a new desktop after having hers for 7 years!
