Thinking Out Loud Thursday #81

Another Thinking Out Loud Thursday – linking up with Amanda at Running with Spoons.

#1 – More Physio and Massage Therapy, yay!

I signed my benefits paperwork this week to get enrolled in my employer’s benefit plan. I’m already covered under P’s plan, but we only get a certain amount of physio/massage therapy benefits (roughly 6 visits per year on P’s plan – our plans are slightly different as we are with different school boards/benefit groups). I tend to blow through the allotted amount rather quickly. Now I have a bit more physio and massage therapy money that should help me out quite a bit with the leg issue. My massage therapist books up rather quickly, so I’ve already booked a couple of appointments. I also have more eye wear money – which is greatly appreciated since I pay out of pocket for my contact lenses since my glasses cost so much.

#2 – No more parquet floor

We took out the parquet floor this weekend. P thought it would take all day, but it took less than 2 hours to fully rip up all the parquet and the tile in the front of the house. Some of it was coming up so easy, that even Max was able to rip up some floor. We will be putting in hardwood flooring, but not for a couple more weeks. Ideally we are installing flooring during March Break when both of us are at home, and Max is at school. Our sub-floor is causing some issues, so we will probably have to install that too, yay….

#3 Speaking of Max at school

Yesterday there was a bit of an ice/snow storm. I picked up Max at 4:40, which is fairly early for me. Usually Max’s group is all there at 4:45ish, with the exception of two that go home around 3:30. When I got there, Max was the last in his group – everyone went home around 3:30. I’m guessing some people got out of work early? The same thing happened last week with the snowstorm. I had to stay at work until 3:10 and then it took about 2 hours to get home – Max was one of about 10 kids left in the entire preschool/daycare. Yesterday, I will admit that I was running at 3pm. ┬áMaybe it makes me a mean Mom, but unless we are going somewhere, Max does not come home early. During March Break, some kids will stay at home – Max will be going every day. Pre-school fees eats up 60% of my take home pay right now and if he doesn’t go, I still pay. So yes, he goes to school.

#4 Oh Starbucks

Starbucks has changed its rewards system and people are a little upset about it. Now the amount of stars you earn is dependent on the amount of stuff you purchase, versus the old system of just one star per purchase. I’m totally one of those 12 black coffees and then the biggest latte drink I can get Starbucks users, so I’m not happy. But, guess what – Bridgeheads is now open in Orleans! They have a rewards system that is similar to the old Starbucks one, and they are closer to work (although still at the other end of Orleans). I also find it funny that McD’s has promoted their rewards system on Twitter. Although let’s be clear, although McD’s filtered coffee is good, their other McCafe beverages are not the same thing as a Starbucks/Bridgehead’s ones.

#5 Super long Thursday!

I’m still at home – but about to go to school #1, then after my Comm Tech class, I’m off to school #2. I have 30 minutes to get from school to school, but it takes only 10 minutes to drive between the two schools. Next week my schedule changes and the days I have to go to school #2, I teach 1st period at school #1 – so I have a bit more of a buffer. Confused? Don’t worry, I rely on Google Calendar to tell me where I’m supposed to be čÖé Anyways, tonight is Parent-Teacher interviews at school #2, so I’m staying there all afternoon + a bit in the evening. It is Thursday, which means as soon as I’m done at school, I’m driving up the road for track practice. It is looking like tonight’s PT interviews are going to be a slow one for me, so I can hopefully complete track and field team forms and probably work on the paperwork I need to get done for my upcoming teacher evaluation. Busy, Busy!

Anyways, speaking of that – time to evaluate┬ásome photoshop assignments! Have a great Thursday!

I like McDonalds filtered coffee. I don’t think I’ve tried any of their other specialty stuff. I leave that up to the professionals at Starbucks.

It isn’t handcrafted, that is for sure!

I’m about 0% happy about the starbucks change! I highly doubt that “loyal customers” requested this.

Bux is playing me! Granted, I don’t get a tonne of fancy drinks and usually stick to my grande Americanos, but still. Not happy. That being said, I did know a few people who abused their reward system hardcore (as in buying the most ridiculous drinks just because they were free), so part of me is kind of laughing that they won’t have as easy of a time doing that anymore.

I used to get the giant sized mochas, but nothing special added to them.

My starbucks consumption has already gone way down since I’m not longer working beside one.

I definitely am not content with the new Starbucks plan, but more on principal than anything else. I usually go with my husband and each time we end up spending $8 or 9, so it will technically work out better for me. BUT sometimes I remember to split the order, which obviously would make the stars add up quicker, so that’s a bummer.

It is disappointing! I’m always by myself and almost always just have a drink, so it will take me a long time to get a free item

I had no idea Starbucks changed their reward system (I guess pregnancy – and now breastfeeding – have kept me from going there). Good to know for when I venture back to my Starbucks days.

That is exciting that you will be putting in new hardwood floor. Are you going lighter or darker?
