#1 Track season is here
High school track season has arrived! We started practices yesterday. We thought we were going to have a snow day, but we didn’t – which meant I leaped out of bed at 6:30am to hurry up to make it to school by 7:30. The students were a little late as well. We had a small group but had a great track practice. Normally I have practices in the PM, but the morning is working out way better. We have until 9:15 to practice which gives us TONS of time. This also means that the next few months will go by really quickly.
#2 Better Call Saul/Squat Cobbler
I got into Breaking Bad a little too late, but have been watching Better Call Saul (the spin off) from day one. Since we know the outcome of Jimmy/Saul, it has been interesting to see the back story of his character. You know something is going to happen to him to change from Jimmy to Saul. But what that is, who knows. The episode last week was great and included a scene that had be in tears from laughter. Jimmy, turning a bit into “Saul” was talking to the cops about his client. To get the police away from his client he fabricated a lie to cover up what was really going on (which is what Saul does in BB). His lie involved telling the cops that his character was making squat cobbler videos. You have to see the scene (it’s widely available) because it is absolutely hysterical. Apparently there really is a video and it might appear on a upcoming video.
#3 Only a portion
Carmy wrote a great piece today about social media and avoiding the social media comparison trap. Jessica at Laces and Lattes also wrote a post about balance and how blogs/instragrams/twitter feeds can be projections of a person, not the whole 100%. That is true for most of us. Obviously we choose to put a portion of our lives out on the internet, but most of us keep a little bit of ourselves offline. If you google my name, this website is the first thing that pops up and you never know who is searching your name. I think the curating part that Carmy mentioned is pretty interesting. I think many of us are selective in the pictures we post and the tweets we write. Hopefully, if you have met me, your impression of me hasn’t changed much 🙂
#4 – 45 minute run!
I went for a 45 minute run yesterday – the longest run since January! It was one of those great runs that feels effortless and leaves you feeling very optimistic. I’m still running very slowly and running 5 mintues, 1 minute walking. Let’s be very clear that my goal for marathons is simply to finish. If I don’t spend 40 minutes in the washroom this time, I will easily PB. But really, I just want to finish the thing! I went for a massage this morning and my leg feels great! Physio next week! I think if I keep stretching, rolling and seeing my RMT and PT, I will be in good shape.
Before the most recent snow storm hit – I went for a run outside. it was a 30 minute run and felt pretty good, until the snow started hitting my face.
#5 See I told you!
Remember last month when I mentioned that I am no longer on a monthly cell phone plan because I wasn’t using my phone much. I just finished my first month with koodo and surprise, suprise, I only used my phone for 20 minutes. At this rate, it is going to take a long, long time to need to refill my minutes. I did use an entire gig of data though…..
