Thinking Out Loud Thursday #88

Another Thinking Out Loud Thursday – linking up with Amanda at Running with Spoons.

#1 Lack of Posts

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I actually have a number of posts that I would like to write, but just don’t have the time. Marathon training and track and field coaching is eating up all my available time. Plus, work has been a bit busy. It is report card season and my yearbook was due, so in between all this athletic stuff, I actually had to do my job as well. The yearbook is now completed and report cards will be done shortly. I feel like I should also start a countdown to taper time. It is coming soon!

#2 Self-Hosted for 4 years?!?

Some people know when their “blogiversary’ date – Apparently I do not. I knew it was in April, but had no idea that on April 6 2012, I moved my wordpress site to a self-hosted one. Four years of this blog being all official-like. I’ve been blogging for far longer, but self-hosted is a bit of a different environment. I’ve had many great experiences that are related to this blog but also have met some really great people.

#3 Speaking of being busy and whatnot

There are days that I feel that it would just be easier to simply run the half marathon at Ottawa Race Weekend. I am just about ready for a half marathon and could probably get a really decent race in. But, with every run I do (especially long runs) I just think that I only have a few more to do, then taper time. I am long running after work today and the weather is looking great. That should hopefully help with my running-mode. But still, I keep thinking that maybe I should switch.

#4 Stop the Sugar

I’ve been eating far too many sugar treats lately. Whether it is chocolate or pie, lots of sugar. I bought a banana cream pie the other day and I’m pretty sure that other than one slice, I ate the entire thing myself. The closer we get to race day, the more I realize I need to stop eating so much sugar. But why does pie have to taste so delicious?

#5 Bathroom is almost done!

We should be able to finish up the ensuite bathroom this weekend. The only thing that we are completely stuck on is the sill for the shower. The stone that is needed to fill in that section is ridiculously expensive – with the cheapest option being more than the tile/vanity cost. I think the bathroom is looking great and way better than how it used to look. We also might get more flooring done this weekend.

That is all I have time for today! Have a great Thursday!!!

Don’t give up on the marathon, even though I know it is tempting to go for a fast half marathon. Like you said, there is not too much longer to go now. Have fun on your long run today. I’m doing mine after work tomorrow, I like getting it done before the weekend. How far are you going?

I like getting it done during the week too – especially when the long runs go beyond 2 hours.

Today is 19KM maybe 20 if I feel good. I am *just* going to make it to the 32KM long run

I think do whatever feels right to you for the race. I just read a great post the other day from Run, eat, spin repeat where she talked about feeling like because she has told people her goal she had to do it. But ultimately, it’s your life. It’s okay to say you know what, this doesn’t fit into my life and I don’t want to do it.

      For sure!

I think that the closer I get to the 20 miler, the better I will feel. After that is over, I know it will be fine. And if it isn’t fine, I will switch – my original goal was just to run the half anyways!

Happy blogiversary! I’m in the same sugar boat as you – I actually cut all sugar out this week to try and fix it!

I’m going to try – I think I will struggle with it!

Don’t get discouraged! You came so far with the marathon training, and there’s only a little more to go before FREEDOM! 😀 You can do it! That being said, you totally don’t have to do it, and if it’s becoming super stressful for you and you’re not even enjoying it anymore, there’s nothing wrong with switching to the half.

Don’t give up on the marathon!!! You’ve got this and you’ve been training so hard… just a few more weeks and then there will be a big reward when you cross the finish line.

I know what you mean about being too busy to blog. I’ve had blog ideas floating around in my head as well, but unfortunately I am so spread thin that blogging is last on the priority list. You do what you can.

Your bathroom is coming along great! You must be thrilled it is almost finished.
