Thinking Out Loud Thursday #111

Another Thinking Out Loud Thursday – linking up with Amanda at Running with Spoons

#1 Quick Fix

I mentioned last week that I purchased a used MacBook Pro that needed a little bit of fixing. A battery on Amazon and a hunt for the right screwdriver = a fixed Macbook that works great. I did have to open up the computer to install the new battery but that wasn’t hard at all. Now I have a laptop again. My older MacBook also has a dead battery and anytime I’ve used it, I have to use the plug. That and it also took a long time to boot. Apple did just release the newest model of MacBook Pros, but they are really expensive.

#2 Toronto 2020

This will probably warrant a separate post but it was announced that the Masters Track and Field World Championships will be held in Toronto in 2020. Pretty exciting news! There are many athletes who have a track background and want to continue competing, but there are also many athletes who have no previous experience and fall in love with the sport. A number of my track friends are currently in Perth, Australia competing in this year’s edition. It has kind of always been my plan to venture back into the track and field world once I hit 35. Part of me also wants to try the heptathlon, but that would require learning how to run hurdles again…..

#3 NYC Marathon Weekend!

My favourite marathon! I’ve already warned the house that I shall be watching the marathon on Sunday. There are a few people I know running, but the elites race is also going to be exciting. Lanni Marchant is running, checking off another ‘World Major” off her list. This is her first NYC marathon and I hope she has a great race. Molly Huddle is making her marathon debut – what a race to run your first! It should be interesting to see what Molly does on Sunday. The weather is looking great for Sunday. I’m sure that myself and other ‘class of 2014’ NYC marathoners will once again be envious of the racing conditions. I definitely need a do-over of that race!

#4 Team Awesome

For another year, I’ve been selected to be a member of Team Awesome for Ottawa Race Weekend 2017. I have once again decided to run the half marathon. This year I will be sticking to the half and not trying to enter the marathon. I actually would have preferred to have run the 5K or 10K, but I’m not 100% sure I will be free on the Saturday. Since I cannot handle missing Ottawa Race Weekend (got to keep the streak alive), I knew that I would be signing up for the half. There are some familiar faces on Team Awesome, and some new editions. I know many people applied to be on the team – I wish that they could take everyone! I’m looking forward to training for another half and participating in my 8th (!!!!!) Ottawa Race Weekend!

That is all I have time for today – Have a wonderful Thursday!

That new MacBook Pro that Apple released just made me anxious. I just got a new computer and I’m wondering if it’s too late to return it and get this new one instead. That touch bar is exciting.
