Thinking Out Loud Thursday #112

Happy Thursday!

Another Thinking Out Loud Thursday – linking up with Amanda at Running with Spoons.

#1 – 2017 Race Season Update

This week I registered for two more races: Richmond Road Races 5K and Army Run. The Richmond Road Races is held in mid-January and is organized by Run Ottawa. Like the Cookie Run, it has affordable race fees with some perks including Chili and Beer at the Finish line. There is also babysitting available if you need it. I hope you consider joining in on the fun!

The other race I signed up for is the Commander’s Challenge at the Army Run. It seemed like fun this year, so I figured I would enter the challenge in 2017. I pondered signing up for the 5K or new 10K, but every time I attempt to focus on the 5K at the Army Run, something doesn’t go my way. Figuring that a unique experience like the Commander’s Challenge is something better to focus on.

#2 NYC Marathon

Last weekend was NYC Marathon weekend. As always, I spent the morning watching the race. Lanni Marchant did not disappoint, placing 7th female! I followed a few other runners including Christina and Michele. A few people had some setbacks but every person who didn’t have a great race day still had an amazing time. That was my experience in 2014. Awful race, but amazing time. Back to watching the race, I was watching the ABC broadcast and the quality of the program was awful. Luckily I was able to watch the CBC version which focused more on the race than random news filler. But I kept the ABC broadcast on and had two live streams going on at the same time. One day I would love to return to the race, but because of the cost, it will be a few years

#3 Moving the McGillvrays

Sunday nights on Canada’s HGTV = Scott and Bryan reality building shows. Bryan has had numerous reality shows in addition to his reno shows and I’m a little used to his show’s style. Scott has filmed his reno show for years, but his “Moving the McG’s” is the first of his ‘reality’ shows. The first few episodes were interesting to watch but now I can barely make it through an episode. It is way too scripted and the product placements are all over the show (and badly done).

#4 Works Burgers

Is there anything else better?!

That is all I have for today! Have a great Thursday!

Exciting to think about next years racing season and that you’re sticking with your plan to run shorter distances.

That is the plan – I enjoy half marathons and have zero plans for anything longer. But Ottawa and Army Run are it for halfs. The rest will be small, local 5K/10K
