
Hi Everyone!
Probably a short post for today as I’m insanely busy with school/work stuff, track and getting ready for race weekend. We are finally at Race Weekend. I feel like we have been waiting for this weekend for months. But as predicted, the month of May flew by and we are now officially at ‘Race Weekend’.
I am running the half marathon on Sunday. I do not really have a ‘goal’ in mind, other than I would like to get a personal best. I definitely think it is possible as even with my ‘run/walk’ long runs – I have been on PB pace. I had a bad bout of shin splints last week, so I haven’t gone for a run since Saturday. I should have zero problems finishing 21.1KM – but will I be able to go as fast as I want? Who knows. Odds are, I will know what pace I will be going with within the first 5K. Some goals I have include:
- Sub 2:00
- Running the full 21.1KMÂ continuous
- Running all KM’s under 6:00
- Not going to the washroom
- A PB that includes going under 2:10
Today and Tomorrow I have a big track meet with my high school group. The weather isn’t looking great so I’m hoping to avoid getting a cold. A few of us have been rocking migraines for the past few days, which has not been pleasant. I’m almost thinking that Sunday’s race will be more of a stress reliever more than anything! Tomorrow I am going to the expo after track. Saturday I will be running the 2K with Max, then going to the VIP tent to cheer on the 5K and 10K runners. It should be a good time! The weather is looking decent too. A bit warm, but not as warm as last year.
