For this post – I have partnered with Premier Protein to review their Protein Shakes. Although I was compensated for my review, all opinions are my own.
I am horrible at eating breakfast first thing in the morning. Reasoning behind my lack of breakfast fuel is a bit of timing in the morning but also because I’m not really one to eat right away. My bad habit is not eating anything until I get to school. Sometimes I think of ways to eat while I am on the go – and one of the ideas that I had was drinking a protein shake. I could make my own but Premier Protein has ready-made shakes that are ready to go. It is easy enough to quickly grab a drink while leaving the house and get some fuel in me before arriving at work. This morning I took a drink in the car with me and sipped in on my commute. I did eat a bowl of cereal when I got to work – but I noticed that I wasn’t starving for lunch at 11:30 like I usually am.
I was given a pack of Vanilla to try – but there is also Chocolate flavour as well. Costco does sell the “Costco-Sized” packs of Chocolate and Vanilla in local Ottawa stores. The 18 pack of drinks costs $39.99 at Costco. There is also an organic version (Chocolate and Vanilla only) that is the same price, but you get 12 bottles instead of 18.
The drinks contain the following:
- 30g of proetin
- 24 vitamins and minerals
- Is an excellent source of calcium
- Only 160 calories
- Low in fat and only 1g of sugar
I was a little apprehensive about trying vanilla as I’m usually a chocolate-protein drink kind of girl – but it didn’t taste bad at all. I put my protein drinks in the fridge and the cool protein drink tasted slightly refreshing in the morning. I did not get a powdery taste and the vanilla flavour was not overpowering. Although the Premier Protein drinks are great to have in the morning – I also like to drink protein drinks after a hard workout. I have found that if I drink a protein drink right after a race, I don’t get stomach cramps after.
If drinking a straight up protein drink isn’t your think – you can also use the shakes to create your own protein smoothie. The Premier Protein website has a few recipes available, including smoothies, protein pancakes and muffins. Overall, I like the taste of the Premier Protein Shakes and I don’t think the box will last long in my house.
