Tuesday Running Update

Evening!

I do not have any kind of update at all. Nothing. Nada. None.

The last time I ran was the MEC Race last week. Things have been a little bit insane around here with summer school, grad school, and a family emergency that needed pretty much all my extra time. As some of you know, from Facebook, P’s mother passed away last Friday. It was not unexpected (she had battled Breast Cancer for years and had Alzheimer’s), but still, it is a sad time and many things needed to be arranged. We had the funeral today – a lovely Catholic service which she would have wanted. Although it was all in French, so I only understood maybe 1/4 of it. Anyways, that is all I’m going to say about that.

So – because of all of this going on, running has taken a big back seat right now, as well as blogging. I just simply have zero time to really do anything right now. Unless I got up early. But that isn’t going to happen quite yet. I *might* be able to get out tomorrow, but I’m unsure. I am supposed to be at Track tomorrow night, and usually I go early to do a workout. But, I’m unsure whether I am able to go out tomorrow night, or have to stay home with Max.

During this whole busy time, I can see why people purchase treadmills. If I had a treadmill I could easily do a run right now. Why? Because part of the problem is that when I am able to run (especially with the weather lately), Max is sleeping and I’m home alone. Can’t just go out running!

Speaking of Max – the little man was so cute last night. Max did not go to the funeral (Max sitting still for more than 5 seconds? LOL), but he did attend the visitation. Mr. Max was all about being Mr. Ham Sandwich and being the centre of everyone’s universe. He sipped juice out of a glass – going ‘ahhhhh’ after every sip, starting shaking people’s hands, waved to everyone as they arrived and say “buuuhhh” as they left, and showed everybody his toys. Such a ham! We made the very last minute decision this morning to take him to daycare. He just wouldn’t have liked having to sit still and I had visions of him running around a cemetery and falling into a hole. Besides I think he had more fun with his friends.

So – that is it for now! Time to get back to work (and marking!)

How do you fit runs in almost every day? Seriously….

If you have a child – do they sit still?

Burritos – beef, chicken or bean?

Sorry for your loss. It is always a sad and stressful time. I always say that if we have kids, the two things I need are a running stroller and a treadmill. Seriously, I do not know how else I could get good runs in without them. Chicken burritos (with hot salsa!)!

I run like once a week right now, MAYBE twice if it’s a good week hahaha. Just enough to keep any dust from settling. Those die hard runners that run everyday amaze me! So sorry to hear about your loss, it sounds like it was a peaceful passing and I am sending prayers your way!

Very peaceful and it was time. Thanks 🙂

I know – I always wonder if they have dishes to do, or work that needs to be done. Not like I’m on the couch, eating ice cream and relaxin (ok – sometimes)

    1. I run 3 times a week and that’s it. 🙂
    2. The 4 year old girl: yes, occasionally. The 2 year old boy: never. Not even when he sleeps.
    3. Any of the above sounds great!

Hope you get a little time to breathe soon. I’m sorry for your loss.

Breathing time comes in August when I go camping and no one can contact us. Looking forward to it 🙂

Sorry to hear about P’s mom. It’s always hard to lose a family member, sick or not.

I bought my treadmill a few years before I had a baby but I’ve definitely used it way more since having a baby for the reason you mentioned. There are many times that I can only get a run in if I’m at home since apparently it’s not good parenting practice to leave a young baby home alone!

Nope, Audrey does not sit still. Even sleeping she moves like crazy. Ants in her pants for sure.

Also even with a treadmill I can barely get 3 runs in a week!

I’m sure the babies will be fine in their cribs *sideways glance*

I think the sun sets sooner in ON in the summer. It’s still bright as day here at 8:30pm but my body just can’t go for a run that late when it’s been up since 5am.

The sun setting late makes it hard to go to bed at a reasonable time in the summer.

It is just getting dark at that point – but I do think because you are a bit higher up in the latitude, you might get some more sunlight – but it doesn’t get dark dark until 9:30 or so
