Worst First Day Back Ever!

Ok, so where do I start?!?!

So first off, it took me an hour to get to work this morning! That wasn’t too much out of what I thought, but still. I did chuckle when I saw my friend from my previous school who also has to go to a new school, shaking her head and laughing in the car when she saw the traffic. So that made me late for my meeting (loved the stares by the way). The morning was a bit of a gong show, but that was expected.

The interesting part of the day was when I had to go home less than an hour after school started.

Why?

Max had hurt himself at daycare and was now not walking. He was also screaming his face off and rolling around on the floor, very much unlike him. So off to CHEO (Ottawa Children’s hospital) we went. Nothing like making a good start at a new school by having to leave on the first day! Anyhoo – after an X-ray it was discovered that he has a small fracture on his tibia. The type of fracture that he has is basically known as the “toddler fracture” since many toddlers tend to have a break like this if they bend their legs the wrong way. Max is now sporting a nice cast that goes up past his knee. There goes running, playing in the park, slides, splash pads and other fun things for the rest of the summer.

Max is a trooper and so far isn’t too upset. Things like this happen.

OMG!!!! What a first day. I hope you are now sitting having a drink!
If it is any consolation my second son Luke had the same “green stick” fracture, probably right around the same age (I think he was around 2). He survived the cast just fine, the worst thing was he picked up the flu from being at CHEO for 8 hours. So then I had a toddler who was throwing up and had diarrhea. And of course a cast means no baths! Fun, fun, fun. I feel for you! Hope tomorrow is a better day 🙂

luckily we were in and out! Not many sick kids, so I’m hoping to avoid any CHEO related illnesses!

As soon as I get some planning done, I will be having a drink! We ordered chinese food for dinner though!

    I am SO. SORRY.
Poor Max! With the cast being over the knee will he need to use something to help him get around?
Poor you! I don’t even know what to say. I’m in AZ. I can’t bring you dinner. I can’t drive Max somewhere. I can’t drop anything off for you. Grrrr….
    YOU CAN DO THIS, SISTER!

We will be using his stroller a bit more. He can sit on the ground (kinda) but he can’t move at all.

It should be an interesting few weeks!! Thanks for the support 🙂
